Battle of the brands to take centre stage at this year’s Food & Drink Business Awards
Own brand category sees unprecedented number of entries
DUBLIN, IRELAND- Dozens of leading own brand goods are set to go head to head to scoop the ‘Own Label Brand of the Year title at this year’s Food and Drink Business Awards. The event which celebrates the best of manufacturing and the people behind the products, takes place in the Citywest Hotel on the 5th of September, hosted by Vincent Wall from Newstalk.
A total of 245 entries have been received across 15 categories for this year’s glittering event which promises to be a night to remember. Some of the categories this year include Health and Wellness Product of the Year, Food & Drink Innovation(sponsored by Henderson Food Machinery) and Food Safety & Quality(sponsored by EIQA). Among the finalists are:
- Dairygold Food Ingredients
- Marks & Spencer
- The Dingle Whiskey Distillery
- Keoghs Crisps
- Happy Pear
- B Free foods
Those in attendance will be treated to a networking drinks reception followed by a tasteful custom designed meal by Michelin starred Chef Ciaran Cunningham. The prominence of own brand goods at this year’s event demonstrates the shift in consumers attitudes towards shop label produce. It also shows own brands are now being used as a key differentiator in Irish supermarkets. Recent statistics from Kantar Worldpanel reveal that despite an increase in spending on brands, private label items at low-cost retailers Aldi and Lidl still account for over 90% of sales.
